Show statuses in Hobi: Watching, On hold, Dropped, Plan to watch

Real watching is messy. You pause a show, drop one a few episodes in, and keep a list of things you will get to. Hobi has a status for each, and none of them throw your history away.

Hobi keeps a show's status separate from what you have actually watched. Here is what each one does.

  • Watching. Your active rotation. These fill Up Next and drive your calendar.
  • Plan to watch. Your someday list. Saved and out of the way until you are ready.
  • On hold. Pause a show without losing your place. Hobi pulls it off your calendar so it stops nagging, and keeps every episode you logged.
  • Dropped. Decided it is not for you? It comes off your active lists and calendar, but your history stays.
The point of statuses is that your calendar only shows what you are truly following, while nothing you watched ever disappears just because you needed a break.

More on the thinking behind it: the status system that keeps your history.
